I was thrifting the other day and a man in the store came up to me and handed me the bottom of this piece and pointed to the signature. I didn't know what he was showing me because I can't really make it out. Then he handed me the lid and said "they don't know what they've got here" and shook his head with a smile and said "take it, go ahead and get it"! So I assumed it's valuable (I only paid $6 for it), and when I asked him for the artist I also could not make out what he said before he walked off, other than that he is/was an artist in California and I swear the name started with a "B".
When I look at the mark, I see it could be a "B" but it kinda' also looks like a JB...then most of the rest I can't be sure of, other than a "g" in the middle.
If anyone's seen this or can think of an artist with a similarly spelled name who may do/have done valuable work - either in California or not - I would just Love to hear back from you!
