Making the Makers Mark easyer to read

Is it Ok to trace the makers mark on the item say with a number 2 pencil so it can been seen and or photographed? If not how do I make it easyer to read?

That's a fine way. Others are to press the base into flour (if the base is dark) or cinnamon (if the base is very light).
