Carole, the simplest solution is to email me your pictures--one of the set, or a piece of the set, as well as one of the mark itself. We have a few experts in German work who might well be able to identify the maker of your set.

This looks like a version of the Winterling mark, but I'll ask our German specialist to look at this...

Good news, Carole! Our expert on German marks has identified your mark:

Definitely Winterling and in this case even traceable to one of their many factories because only one made such items ... take a lookie here.

As you can see, they used the stylized 'W' both with and without a crown, just like in the posted example ...

Thank you guys so very much - I'm delighted you've traced it - I thought it was an "M" but it was a "W" . Clicked on the link but couldn't get it so I'm off to take a look at the website.
I know I paid a lot of money at the time for it I think it was around DM500 then - so thought it must be quality.

Winterling made many funky coffee, tea and dinner services... so enjoy yours.At home we use 6 different coloured Melitta services (Melitta coffee filter company made pottery too), all the same series, so teatime can be a wild variety of colours.....
